El eco me engaña es una serie de fotografías en blanco y negro tomadas en los paisajes naturales de Baja California. El proyecto parte de la idea del eco como metáfora del tiempo: un regreso que nunca es idéntico, una repetición que siempre se transforma. Como la vida misma, cada momento se vive una sola vez, y lo que regresa es apenas un reflejo modificado, imposible de comparar con el original.
En esta transición entre lo vivido y lo recordado, la obra interroga qué permanece y qué se desvanece en la memoria. Las siluetas humanas se funden con el mar y las montañas, sugiriendo que el cuerpo también es un eco y que toda presencia lleva en sí una ausencia. La doble exposición crea un espacio ambiguo donde la realidad se entrelaza con la imaginación, otorgando a la serie un carácter místico y evocador.
El proyecto utiliza el celuloide analógico y la doble exposición como estrategia central. Más que un efecto visual, este procedimiento traduce la noción de eco en imagen: capas que regresan alteradas y crean resonancias en la emulsión. El blanco y negro refuerza la atemporalidad y centra la atención en la luz y la textura del paisaje. Así, El eco me engaña se convierte en una exploración de la memoria, el tiempo y la naturaleza irrepetible de la experiencia humana.
El eco me engaña (The Echo Deceives Me) is a series of black-and-white photographs taken in the natural surroundings of Baja California. The project is based on the idea of echo as a metaphor for time: a return that is never identical, a repetition that is always transformed. Like life itself, each moment is lived only once, and what returns is merely a modified reflection, impossible to compare with the original.
In this transition between what is lived and what is remembered, the work questions what remains and what fades in memory. Human silhouettes blend with the sea and mountains, suggesting that the body is also an echo and that every presence holds within it an absence. Double exposure creates an ambiguous space where reality intertwines with imagination, giving the series a mystical and evocative character.
The project uses analog film and double exposure as its central strategy. More than a visual effect, this procedure translates the notion of echo into image: layers that return altered and create resonances in the emulsion. The black and white reinforces the timelessness and focuses attention on the light and texture of the landscape. Thus, El eco me engaña becomes an exploration of memory, time, and the unrepeatable nature of human experience.
